There’s Something About Magic

Ever since I was a young girl and read fairy tales about magical princesses and mystical fairies, I loved magic. As I got older and realized that those things only exist in books, I went to seek the feeling of excitement and fun that fairy tales brought. That led me to makeup. I know it might sound a little crazy but to me, makeup is magic. It brings back everything I loved about those princesses and fairies. It allows me to escape into a world of creativity and wonder. I love that makeup gives me the ability to express myself and restores a little magic in my life. So I am writing today to share with you a makeup look that will make you look fabulous, whether you are practicing your princess duties or going to the grocery store.

I wanted this look to have a fun yet neutral eye, with a nice lip and some color on the cheeks. So I started with priming my face, as this is the most important step in applying your makeup. It’s like having some insurance for your look throughout the day. I use the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primers and let me tell you, it applies like butter! After I apply my primer I spray a little bit of MAC Fix + in a ‘T’ and ‘X’ formation to give my skin a little extra hydration before I put any other products on. Next, after that primer and Fix + sets in a little bit, I go ahead and mix my favorite two foundations at the moment. The first foundation is the Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer in ‘Creamy Vanilla’. I love how thick this foundation is and it is very, very full coverage. I do like my foundations to be a little more liquid so I mix in my Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in ‘Ceylan’. I would recommend this foundation to someone who is looking for a medium to full coverage foundation but does not want a heavy foundation all day. I mean when they say “weightless”, it is WEIGHTLESS. That is why I love mixing it in with the Milani because it doesn’t add any heaviness to my face. After that, I use my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind stick in ‘Light Pale’ to cover up any blemishes and fill in my under eye circles. While applying all of my liquid foundations and concealers I use the real techniques beauty sponge to give a soft look. I then set my face with the RCMA No-Color Powder.

After my face is set, it is time to add that color. I use Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in ‘Light Bronzer’ under my cheekbones and right at the base of my hairline on my forehead. I love everything about this bronzer. The smell is amazing, the application is amazing, the way it blends out is amazing, and I think with my skin tone it really gives that sunkissed look. Then we move on to blush. I have been loving the Benefit Cosmetics ‘Dallas’ for the warmth it brings to my face. I then mix two highlighters from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in ‘That Glow’. I use my damp beauty sponge to apply ‘Dripping In Gold’ and then ‘Bubbly’ over it. Using the beauty sponge gives you highlight a very nice airbrushed look and doesn’t look powdery or ashy.

Let’s move on to the eyes!!!

I used the Urban Decay Naked3 Palette on the eyes and I just have to say that this is one of my favorite palettes because of the beautifully dusty rose colors and the quality of the Urban Decay eyeshadows. I started by putting ‘Strange’ on my brow bone to highlight the arch. I then went in with a shading brush and put ‘Limit’ on the crease down into the lid. This color is astonishing!!! I used ‘Nooner’ in the outer lid to give some darkness to the look. It’s time for the Sparkle! Before dipping my brush in the stunning glitters, I spray my brush with some MAC Fix + to intensify the shimmer. I applied ‘Liar’ to the outer corner of my lid and then ‘Buzz’ to the inner of my lid then blended the colors out. Then I applied a thin line of Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in ‘Trooper’ and swiped on the best mascara ever, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

For the lips, I put a layer of chapstick on and then swiped on Too Faced Melted Latex in ‘Hopeless Romantic’.

Once more spray a ‘T’ and an ‘X’ of MAC Fix + across your face to lock in moisture and you’re ready to fight a dragon or just meet a friend for coffee.

Thanks so much for reading! Have a lovely day!

Love,

Abbie Michelle
